Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu Champs League!

Posted in Community on November 17, 2012 by AKA Sunnyvale

Don’t forget tomorrow at noon at GJJ headquarters in Pleasanton, it’s the GJJ Champs League! The best students from each school (4 each) will compete against each other for half a jillion dollars and bragging rights! I could be wrong about the money but it’s the bragging rights that’s most important. Representing AKA S’Vale/One World are: Fookie, Lance, Adam and Vu. If you want to see the brackets go to the One World site they have a picture posted up. I’m not sure how many people from AKA SV & One World are going but let’s have a great turn out and cheer for our guys. Get there early to steal the best seats from the other schools and watch as they sit in the back saying such things as:

“Hey can you sit down? I can’t see.”

“Who’s winning? I should have gotten here earlier for the good seats…”

“I feel bad that I have to sit in the hall way getting updates from other people because of my inability to get here early.”

Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Posted in Community on November 17, 2012 by AKA Sunnyvale

Starting next Tuesday we’ll now be offering Advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for students who are ranked blue belt and up only. This will be replacing No Gi Jiu Jitsu on Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30p – 7p. I’m not sure who will be teaching but I would guess it would be Kyle Lehane. That’s just a guess because I haven’t got all the details yet. For all you No Gi practitioners, don’t worry No Gi will be back but it will be scheduled ahead of time and we’ll let people know when it’s up for the week. Meanwhile all you blues and higher get ready for the Advanced BJJ classes. What will be taught? I don’t know…because I’m still a white belt (6th degree!). I might have to run a camera to spy on these new advanced techniques that I won’t be able to do correctly.

Art of Submission film

ImageCinemark movie theater at Santana Row is playing Alex’s movie, Art Of Submission.

1. Link: www.cinemark.com/theatre-detail.aspx?node_id=1679#9/29/2012
2. Start time is 7:25PM on Saturday.
3. We’ll likely hang out thereafter: vBar, etc.

Discussed this with Coach Mike that we should see this after the US Open, however it is not clear if the movie will still be playing in a couple of weeks. So, if you’re competing, be smart if you come out. (via Mo)

Despite what Mike says it’ll be great time if we all go out together to support Alex and the film!
